Public subsidy is of immense importance for the agricultural sector. Direct financial payments by the EU make up a significant part of farmers’ income.
Public subsidy of the agricultural sector is currently undergoing fundamental reform. The unlinking of direct payments from production and their linkage to observance of so-called cross-compliance rules are just one aspect. Other important changes arise from a reform of European agricultural subsidy rules and their harmonisation to the EAFRD regulation.
We have followed these reform processes intensively for our clients. The comprehensive understanding of these processes and the respective requirements of European law including their interaction with national regulations allows us to seize all opportunities. Our clients include federal and state subsidy agencies, which we advise and support in the drafting of their subsidy rules and in the implementation of projects with the European Commission.
